Getting Rid of Ugly Cold Sores

Antiviral creams and ointments like acyclovir and famciclovir can be used too. Pain management can be effectively done by taking paracetamol or applying witch hazel to the sore area. This is a topical medication (applied to the skin) which also acts as an anesthetic. To make your immune system better equipped to fight infections, start a balanced diet regimen which is rich in vitamins A, C, E, zinc and iron. Simultaneously avoid foods which have too much salt or spice or which are acidic and drinks which are sore to the sore.

Cold Sore Relief

To forestall the ailment it is best to do with salty or spicy foods. Try to eliminate or limit foods which are as follows: chocolates, peanuts, grains, peas, seeds, oatmeal and whole-wheat rich in arginine. Try to cut out tea and coffee and make sure your food is high in vitamins.

Ice can be used as a good home remedy for cold sore just rub on the cold sore for a few minutes and repeat every hour or so. Coconut Oil: Take 100ml of coconut oil, 2ml of disinfectant, and 3ml or carbolic acid and mix them together. Apply to your cold sores at least twice a day.

A tried and tested home remedy for cold sores is having tea tree oil as a drink with herbal sage and violet. You could make a mixture of all these items and add a few sage leaves and ginger powder and then put all of it in a cup of boiling water. Drinking this can help you get rid of your cold sores in a couple of days.

If nothing seems to be effective probably taking 3 acidophilus pills twice a day in the morning and evening may dry and clean it up. If you are a frequent sufferer of sores, take 2 pills a day. Surely this list of home cold sores remedies can not be the only methods that are there, but some of the more popularly used ways are only mentioned here.
